Could you change the lives of 119 children in four weeks?
Every summer, before the school year begins in Paraguay, Superniños brings together returning and future Kid Teachers for an intensive leadership camp. On paper, it's a training program. In reality, it's often where children begin to see themselves differently.
This year, 119 students participated, including 45 new Kid Teachers preparing to take on their roles for the first time. Some arrived excited. Others arrived nervous, unsure of what to expect or whether they would fit in. Four weeks later, they left with new skills, new friendships, and a stronger sense of who they are and what they can contribute.
The first week focuses on building community. Students learn to work together, solve problems as a team, and support one another. As the camp continues, they begin practicing the skills they'll use throughout the year—not just teaching, but listening, encouraging, and helping younger children succeed.
By the final weeks, the transformation is easy to see. Returning Teen Teachers take on greater responsibility, mentoring younger students and leading activities of their own. Workshops in music, theater, writing, games, and other creative subjects give them the chance to share what they know while discovering the satisfaction of helping someone else learn.
What makes the camp special isn't any single activity. It's the moment a child realizes they have something valuable to offer. It's the confidence that comes from being trusted with responsibility. It's seeing themselves not just as students, but as role models, mentors, and leaders.
Parents often tell us they notice the difference before camp is even over. Their children come home more confident, more responsible, and more willing to take initiative. That's because the goal has never been simply to train Kid Teachers. The goal is to help young people recognize their own potential and understand that they can make a difference in the lives of others.
And year after year, they do.
